Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Wednesday, December 21st, 2022

I’m looking at next year and trying to figure out a plan of attack. I think the economy will suffer in some cases but I think there is as much opportunity as I’ve seen in a while in a lot of areas. It kind of reminds me of 1996. You may not remember 1996 as being anything special but it was for movies. In 1996 big directors turned their backs on big budget films and made their own. Something the industry hadn’t seen in decades. Tired of sequels and decided for the first time to start putting time and some money into independent film and see where that took them. The result was some of the most diverse, well made, classics of our time. The downside is they didn’t make any money. They just went into history as classics. Some movies from just that year

The Crying Game

Four Weddings and a Funeral

The Adventures of Pricella: Queen of the Desert

The Piano

Heavenly Creatures

Shine

Trainspotting

Howards End

Pulp Fiction

Dead Man Walking

The Usual Suspects

Mighty Aphrodite

Independence Day was on of the few big budgets that broke through that year

Welcome to the Dollhouse

Citizen Ruth

Bottle Rocket

A ton of great films in one year. I see this happening with businesses. I see smaller companies making big waves against the big boys(girls). Some may still have VC money behind them but they will be given time to build and grow. The won’t go straight to freemium and will actually try and be a profit center with a tool or business that is worth the monthly price. Not as concerned with number of customers but number of paying customers. Building the base of “real” customers rather than get users hooked on free content and then turn the switch on and hope they don’t leave and rotate into the next great thing. I think in some ways this may hurt some of the larger sales but I feel domain sales will continue to thrive and the value of good domains will only increase and become more scarce. I feel domain are our greatest digital asset and while NFTs can be very lucrative, they are pathways to meeting great people that can help you build IRL businesses. Its about the connections. Domains are the asset and the utility on which to build that business. I see a great year ahead and stoked to see what becomes of it.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
