I think Rivian is dead money. I ordered a Rivian and a Bronco at almost the same time. They both were delayed. During the delay Ford sent me a box with a nice hammock in it that said “Hang in there, we’re making them as fast as we can” A few months later they send a calendar and it said “counting down the days until you get your Bronco” and finally a poster of the Bronco. Rivian? Not a word. And I was nowhere near getting my vehicle. I understand Rivian doesn’t have the cashflow of Ford but it cost very little to email me and keep me informed. Literally one person or the cost of one vehicle could handle the email of the 50-100K orders. Especially if it were automated.
Rivian needs to add another vehicle besides the truck and the SUV. They also have a delivery vehicle they are making for Amazon. And that may be the issue. They are trying to fill an order that is prepaid. Unfortunately, even Amazon canceled part of their order yesterday. They’re tired of waiting as well. Rivian may hold on long enough but while they are figuring it out the other companies are catching up quickly. Tesla is sprinting away. Getting better and better at what they do and closer to producing their own batteries as well.
I wanted to support Rivian, they have a plant 50 miles from me. They just didn’t want to give any customer support. If its bad now I can only imagine what it will be like after I get the vehicle
