This isn’t exactly what I had but it’s a good representation. My brother’s was very close to this because music was his world and he had friends that always needed money so he built his much cheaper than mine. Mine matched a little better but half the stereo. We didn’t have in the 80s what we have now. Your choices of listening to music were what they played on the radio, your stereo, and a Walkman. One of the most important stereos was what was in your car. It was the era of the detachable faces. The face came off so that nobody would steal your expensive radio. But it also means carrying the faceplate of your stereo wherever you went. I had a Blaupunkt. A brand you literally never hear of in the US anymore but at the time it was one of the hottest brands and meant you paid a lot for your radio. The bonus for me is that I doubled the price of my car when I installed it.
Looking back if I would have put that money into Apple, a computer I played with every day, I would have over a million dollars. But I wouldn’t have had the memories and the joys of listening to my music. All of which I could care two shits about and would much rather have the million dollars.
