I regularly get blood work done for a few reasons. Firstly, my thyroid doesn’t function properly, so I need to check every six months to a year to ensure my medication doses are correct. Additionally, I put my body through a lot with various doctors’ visits and diet experiments, so I want to make sure I’m not over-stressing it. These tests, along with my daily health readings, help me understand what practices to continue and what to change.
Here are the daily metrics I monitor to assess my health:
- Resting Heart Rate: Indicates my fitness level.
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV): Reflects the stress levels on my body.
- Deep Sleep/REM Sleep: Shows my recovery cycle.
- Latency (time taken to fall asleep): Indicates if I prepared properly for sleep, including diet and hydration.
- Breaths Per Minute: Helps determine if I have any sickness, recovery issues, or problems with altitude.
- Blood Pressure: Provides an overall measurement of my health status.
- Eyes Closed Balance Test: With eyes closed and one leg lifted, I stand for 60 seconds to check my balance.
My blood panels cover various aspects of overall health, including prostate checks and other disease screenings to catch potential issues early. I go to Quest Health, and after insurance, it costs around $50 twice a year for 4-5 panels per visit. It’s well worth the money, as it helped me catch my thyroid deterioration early.
I highly recommend everyone get baseline checks and regularly monitor their stats. I’m not obsessive over the numbers since they fluctuate. They simply remind me where I stand in terms of health and fitness. For example, after retiring from the nursery, my health metrics significantly improved. Even my doctor noticed and asked what changes I made. I told her I did nothing, which sometimes is the best thing for your health.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details. All names were chosen by us, Shane, Travis, and/or Josh . Everything we say is based on our research or is opinion. Do your due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, registrars, and individuals that are auctioning names. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
