I’m on the Lizzy Grant aka Lana Del Rey Bandwagon: All Because of This Video

I’ve been reading for the past year or so about Rob Grant’s daughter Lizzy over at DnJournal and listened to a few songs and thought she was OK.  Now all of a sudden she’s grown on and I think I have a crush.  It was this video of ‘Blue Jeans’ below that did it to me.  It’s one of the sexiest songs I’ve heard in a while.  It doesn’t hurt that Lizzy herself is a beautiful girl so even if she sang the ABCs I might watch the whole video.  Take a look and see if you agree.

  3. Lana del Rey has a fragile, little girl voice that marries well with the stripped down production of her songs. Did she write the melodies? I thought every gorgeous pop melody had already been written, but, I, too, checked out the catelog on Youtube and see she’e cranking them out! Especially Diet Mountain Dew.

      I completely see how some don’t agree. I thought it sounded weak at first but it grew on me. Can’t explain it, not my style at all but suddenly found myself digging it. Do people still use the word dig?

  5. I’m a guitarist myself, and I think 99% of pop/rock is complete crap (probably more). She in the 1% though, and could move well beyond pop if she keeps growing. Tons of potential in her sensibilities and voice.

  7. She may not be my style, but I am grateful that there is such a variety of music out there. Enough for everyone to find something they love.

  8. I like her. She writes her own songs. Her voice is different. Her songs are different. Definitely not the same old pop music from last year.

    The part where Chris sings, “I never dreamed I’d meet someone like you”…….sounds just like Lizzy’s part where she sings, “I will love you till the end of time”. Don’t know if it is intentional, but it is very, very similar.

    I can see why people like it though, it’s fresh. Anything is better than the regurgitated garbage we have been intentionally fed for the last 30 years. The music industry is still scratching their heads as to why sales are going down…..they think is is illegal downloading, which is true to a degree, but really almost 100% of EVERYTHING MUSIC SUCKS these days!

    Why pay for crap?

  13. wow, that is so bizarre. i saw this video recently, it came up randomly on a streaming video playlist i was watching/listening to. I had no idea who it was, but remember thinking the song was pretty sultry/catchy. whether she becomes a superstar or not she’ll definitely get a good following i’m sure
