Domain Spotlight:

Shane’s List of Domains at Auction for Wednesday, May 28th, 2025

Yesterday, Atom announced they’ve officially added an ICANN registrar to their platform. This is the same move Dan.com was about to make before GoDaddy swooped in and bought them for $71 million. That acquisition stopped the rollout before it happened.

If GoDaddy thought Dan was worth $71 million to keep that from happening, Atom might be worth 5 to 10 times that. They’re almost too big to swallow.

The most disruptive piece isn’t the registrar itself—it’s the revenue-sharing model tied to expiring domains. The rev share hasn’t been detailed yet, but if it’s meaningful, it could be the thing that drives investors to transfer their portfolios over. Expired names that auction well already have a business model, and this just adds more liquidity. I don’t think GoDaddy or Dynadot will match it. Not sure they can. I wouldn’t if I were them—the math doesn’t work in their favor.

If I were running Atom, my first move would be reduced commissions for any name held at their registrar. That’s the fastest path to growing DUM (domains under management). It also improves flow, creates a better user experience, and most importantly, gives their AI more data to work with.

Unstoppable also added a registrar, but they’re not a serious player in traditional domains. They’re growing DUM through heavily discounted registrations, but no one’s moving high-value names there. Atom already has a trusted platform—and now they’ve added the one missing piece.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
