I know I barely talk about domain stuff in these openers, but half the time I would just be repeating myself. There are now several X spaces a week to learn from. Ninety percent of it is the same info you hear every day, but the other ten percent is thought provoking and makes you a better investor or at least gets the mind moving.
Here’s my non domain rant today.
I hear people talk about being lonely or being alone, and almost every time it comes from walls they built themselves. They became the type of person nobody wants to be around, or they let themselves fade so far out of mind that others replaced them with people who are closer and more present. Building assets of any kind takes investment. Your domain portfolio, your circle of family and friends. To keep them you have to invest in them. For them to care, you have to care. “They know I care about them.” Do they? When’s the last good conversation you had with them? You make time for the things that are important to you.
You have time for anything you want to do in this world. What you really mean when you say “I don’t have time” is “that is not important enough to move into things I am going to do today.” If you do not show your friends and family they are important, they will feel unimportant and move toward people who think they are.
I won’t lie, I can be bad at this part too. Add in kids, wife, and a job and it is tough to do much else. Those three things can keep you on an island. It can be a very happy island and self sufficient for years. Eventually that island loses some inhabitants and it will just be you and your partner. There is a reason so many couples divorce after the last kid leaves. They built an island and realized they did not want to live on that island with that person for the rest of their lives. Or one person loves the island and the other wants to see the world and what else is out there.
My point is this. Relationships are healthy. Conversations outside the usual work and day to day are healthy. Routine is the backbone of productivity, but things outside of the routine are what grow and spark the brain. Do your job, be a great parent and partner, but make sure to be good to yourself. You will be better at all of those if you are happy.
No, I am not struggling with this. I say it because I was thinking about it this morning with gratitude. I am fortunate that running and working retail every day introduced me to so many good people over the years. That is what I miss most about retail, meeting people. What has filled the gap is hiking. I went on dozens of hikes by myself and did not hike a single one alone. Always meeting great people and spending the next four to eight or more hours getting to know someone new. The wilderness and outdoors is a great bonder. Trying hard things together has bonded people since the beginning of time. My hobbies, my work, and my family have led me to great friends.
In short, if you do not want to be lonely, share. Make time, even if small, to keep up relationships with the people you enjoy. If you do not, they may not give you as much as you would like. A man surrounded by great friends has never died poor.
Quote of the Day:“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” — Dale Carnegie

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.

One of the best things written in 2025. Well done.
Thank you Ray. Guarantee Sumner won’t be screenshotting this and sharing it with the world
