Part of new tech and big changes is the overreaction and underreaction to those changes. With AI, you have some of the world thinking it’s over and we’re going to lose to the robots. You have others just ignoring it and carrying on with business as usual. Then there are those using it as a tool and becoming more productive. And finally, you have the group that thinks it is everything, trying to make everything a nail with their AI hammer.
The reality is that the group that adds it as a tool will most likely be the winner. They understand how it works and use tools others have built to make their lives better and more efficient. They concentrate on what they already do well and figure out how AI can make it better. That will be the common person. The volatility of the other views is going to drive the daily narrative.
Every day you will hear news like “this industry will die,” “these people’s jobs will be replaced,” and “we can’t believe anything anymore,” which will send emotions and actions all over the place. We will overreact, just as the stock market has, trying to value these tools and their abilities. Not only how much value they will add, but who and what will be replaced with the push of a button. We have an idea, but we are still guessing. I love that guessing because it gives me time. Time to lean into what I think will happen and place my bets. Time to invest in companies I believe will be part of the infrastructure of the future. Time to short the companies that are naive and will be overcome by a chip.
It’s not a scary time. It’s an amazing time. And the last time I checked, I am doing all of this on a computer and through domain names. Domains will be fine. How we manage and buy them may change. How people remember a company or website will not. Brands will be just as important as a person’s name. We need identification and association. Everyone will have one, and some will carry more trust, popularity, and value than others.
Quote of the Day: “We tend to overestimate the effect of a technology in the short run and underestimate the effect in the long run.” — Roy Amara

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
