You may have noticed that I’ve been slackin’ on the writing lately. Sometimes I feel like I’m busier without a job than with one. I had a job interview yesterday for a really great company. I’m not going to lie, I do want this job, and I feel like I’d be a good fit. It seems like a real challenge and that’s what I’m looking for. I’ll spare the details for now as I don’t want to jinx it, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I figured I’d take a little time and share some of the sites I visit regularly on the web. I enjoy having a wide range of interests and I think that’s reflected in what I visit online. Who knows, maybe you could learn a thing or two from one of these sites too.

FoodWishes.com Chef John at Food Wishes runs a great site. I love to cook and sometimes just need a little inspiration. Just about every recipe includes a step by step video. I like a lot of his recipes because he keeps them simple, with not an overbearing amount of ingredients, but delicious. If you’re not sure what to make for dinner, check out FoodWishes.com .

TheChive.com “Probably the best site in the world”… their words, not mine. But it is a pretty hilarious site. Lots of funny pics and videos, great way to pass the time at work…that’s what my friends tell me.

MLBTradeRumors.com MLB Trade Rumors is proof that by writing relevant, up to date content that people are looking for, you can make a site a huge success. MLB Trade Rumors is the place to go on the web if looking for baseball related rumors, trade and transaction information. Owner Tim Dierkes has done a great job at building a huge online following. Shane might even know Tim as he went to school in Champaign-Urbana and now lives in Roselle, IL.

SomeECards.com Send someone an e-card and tell them how you really feel.

SmokingMeatForums.com I’m a meat smoker. Knock it off with the jokes. I love slow smoking meat in my smoker. In fact that’s my smoker up above, and my laundry too. Last year for Super Bowl I did a 15lb brisket, 12lb pork shoulder, and 3 slabs of baby-backs. Smoking Meat Forums is a great place to go for information on smoking, smokers, rub and sauce recipes, etc. There are a ton of sections, from how to get started in smoking to endless pages of ‘Que View’, where members post pics of the great food they’ve cooked up.

Slate.com A great domain name and in my opinion one of the best online magazines out there. The writers are informed and opioniated…hmm reminds me of another site I know of…

BeerEncyclopedia.com Not really a site but it would be awesome if it was, right? I own this one 🙂 Want to buy it or build it out? Contact me and lets make a deal.

    Chris,

How long do you leave the laundry in the smoker?

Thanks for sharing some of your fave sites.

    🙂

  2. Chris,

Typo in FoodWishes link. Has a , instead of a . after www.

I’m down for drinking my way thru a Beer Encyclopedia.

    Gulp.

    🙂

  3. Trico,

    Thanks, fixed the link.

“I’m down for drinking my way thru a Beer Encyclopedia.”

That’s pretty much what I’ve done since the beginning of college. I should have documented it for the site.

  4. Good luck with your job search!

I disappear into thechive’s blackhole on occasion only to reemerge 3 hours later with nothing accomplished.
