DSAD.com: Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday, September 19th

Escrow.com Interesting article and comments yesterday at TheDomains.  While I don’t think its the turning point of new Gs at all,  all it means is they still haven’t gained traction.  All these new Gs are merely alternatives to dot com. Not a replacement.  They are also not a good investment for domain investors. They may be good for a business or entity but they are only being used because the dot com is too expensive or just plain taken.  The good news for some registries is that some ARE being used.  That’s what they were brought out for.  Not for flipping.

What will gain traction so we have a chance to flip is up in the air.  Most are throwing darts. I didn’t hear one single one of you say a year or two ago that dot io would become popular with startups.  I think dot app and dot club are worthless.  I would much rather own CountryClub.com than Country.Club.  And apps really don’t need a fancy website name.  Most of the searching and info will be on the app stores. I think those that spent good money on these could have bought something else and put that money into their business and made a better investment.  The hype and marketing behind it are merely that.  But I do understand that’s what drives companies.  I also understand that China is much bigger than the world I know and they can make anything popular.

Marketing has built many a company.  But in order to return success to the investors the marketing is used to drive the business until the product gains traction and then can run on its own.  When there is no differentiating product then it all falls apart when the marketing money ends.  i.e dot co.   I’m not saying that the people behind these new Gs are bad people.  Most of them are great at what they do.  I am merely saying what I view as a good or bad investment in the domain world and so far after two year nobody has proved to me that there is anything out there in the new Gs that is a sustainable business model for us domain buyers.   Here are today’s names. Click for current prices

MMHC.com My type of name. I like all LLLL.com that end in C. I “collect” them

HHMK.com This is more the Chinese favorite. Repeater and consonants. Also Germans like the K at the end

WeFinish.com 18 years old. Or you could just get the name below

HowToQuit.org Yup. Actually at auction today as well. Something for everyone

WCMP.com Another LLLL.com with very strong letters

SeniorVoice.com A huge part of the world is now seniors. Might as well give them a voice.

ScottsdaleProperty.com And this is where a ton of them live with their voices

HatKing.com Become the king with the purchase of this domain. One bidder

TrueQ.com Not huge value but not a bad brand for $12

ComStack.com 29,000 backlinks but no bidders at $12

GroundBlue.com I like brands with two known, easy to spell words. Nobody else likes it

TheBeachBrokers.com An upgrade name for a few realtors and auto companiesLhkShDSr

TruckNow.com 13 bidders think this is a nice trucking name.

Surfeo.com Seems like a name that BB would take

CarsAndCribs.com It’s where most people spend there money. No bidders

HeavyTraining.com Cross fit people would like this one

R4Z.com These CCC.coms have been rare sightings lately

TenderMemories.com Sounds like a girly site that I have no interest in visiting. Ok, maybe a few times

ManHog.com The opposite of the name above. No bidders

888326.com Getting a great price even during these “down” times

HealthMad.com All the bids coming from the 50,000 backlinks

VirtualPurse.com Because everyone thinks they have a great new wallet or payment system

WZBV.com It was going so well until the V

IBHO.com I be a ho

YUWL.com

565775.com

268128.com

GoDaddy Auctions: The smart choice for buying & selling domain names.

Flippa and SEDO

Moo.net  Seller says it gets a lot of traffic each month

ChickenLollipop.com  Worst domain and writeup on flippa.  Travel?

Decadent.com    Screams luxury

Gud.com   This one is pretty gud too

AppCurate.com   Nice name for a “help me find a good app” type domain.  With billions of apps out there a single app site won’t drive it as much as directory/review type site.

NameJet

59937.com  Might as well start off with one of these number thingies

Imaging.com  First registered in 1991

VRNI.com  Virtual Reality will drive this one

VNVR.com  Maybe not as good as above but much cheaper and still has VR

Wreaths.net  I sell several hundred of these at Christmas.  You probably have one at your house

Lemmings.net  What most people on the internet are

OCZS.com    6 bidders for this nice LLLL.com

RentalKiosks.com   Getting some great bids.  The malls are loaded with them

SaaSProducts.com  42 million Google results and no bids

PDBD.com Really fun to say.  Say it really fast.  Told you

FunnyDancing.com  Not sure of the value but I sure could watch it all night

SODR.com     I automatically see doctor when I see DR.  Uniregistry and Seek are all over these types of LLLL.com

WWDW.com    Seek has this one bid pretty high as well

GetAway.net     Strong enough travel name to overcome the dot net

555129.com   Not doing as well as I thought but still plenty of time

    1. Mark,

I have no doubt they will survive. They have sold more than enough names to survive. Just because it is a bad investment for domain flipper doesn’t mean its bad for the domain registry and the end users. .Club has been fantastic for the registry and the people that get the advertising money. The resale market is something we will have to see. And the registry loves wait and see because it means renewals.
