One of the bad parts of owning a medium sized business is the tech side. We had a lightening strike and the power go out and blow a router. Or at least we thought we had. We’re not big enough to have a full time tech person on staff and some times it gets a little complicated for me to set up or fix. In this case it was a matter or tracing wire from the server. We have a few servers and cables running to routers in each office. Our company has 40 employees and 12 computers so keeping upgrades up to date and handling problems is becoming more work each year. Just pay someone? Its not enough work to keep a person busy 10% of the time and paying someone from the outside is very expensive and the first couple hours always seem to be getting familiar with our system. For the few times it happens its financially worth it for me or my father to do it (he’s very good at computer repair and system management). Its just a pain in the ass when it happens. So the lightening strike ended up knocking out a few ports in the router and frying a cable. All despite a supposed protector in front of those. I guess it could have been worse. Could have friend the actual servers
