IKE’S LIST OF DOMAINS AT AUCTION FOR Saturday, June 20th

Escrow.com

My list sucks today. It’s probably not because there aren’t good names at auction, but more likely that I was distracted while doing the list.

I was distracted because I’m lazy and spent the night transferring names out of Godaddy in an effort to not lose any more to the expired auctions. I thought I was caught up, but from the first page I scanned I saw my own damn names with bids. I’m famously bad at this part of domaining, and it’s a good example of why most people shouldn’t quit their day job to be a domainer. ( a reference to Shane’s post yesterday)

On the other hand, I know I’d be a lot more attentive and better at it overall if I didn’t have another source of income. Sometimes you get the best performance when the pressure’s on. But then if you’re the kind of person like me, that needs extra pressure to not be lazy, you probably shouldn’t quit your day job.

I ended up transferring over 250 names to Namebright. I like Namebright, but there’s a few things that need updated. The bulk transfer didn’t really work, I had to re-enter the auth codes a few times. Anything with a comma in the code will get hung up on a normal day, but last night they all failed. I ended up having 4 or 5 tabs open, because I kept reloading the page and waiting for it to resolve. The pages would just keep on “working”, not moving on but when I went to another tab the processing work was already done.

While we’re talking about auth codes, what sadistic bastard at Godaddy thinks it’s a good idea to use auth codes with spread sheet delimiters or codes that start with a formula character. lol, what a pain it is trying to process transfers in bulk with numerous codes starting with a + or =.

So have a nice weekend, don’t spend all your time searching for domain deals, but don’t be a lazy domainer like me.

  1. NameBright excels on many fronts.

My only experience is winning names at DropCatch and therefore NameBright. Nice operation.

  2. Hi Josh, can you explain what you meant in “transferring names out of Godaddy in an effort to not lose any more to the expired auctions”?

    Thanks.
