THE BIG AFTERMARKET LIST: Thursday’s Domains at Auction or Dropping on June 5th, 2014

Jun 05 2014

Raymond wrote a great article about the Domain Name Industry and the effect of advertising dollars. I know we are not a top tier blog, I get it.  Aaron and I are not ever going to compete with Raymond, Berkens, Andrew, or Elliot. Getting paid to write is luxury and something we didn’t have for years.  We work 60 hours a week running our “other”  businesses.  But to think we aren’t intelligent, honest people, is misguided.  I’ve said and done some stupid stuff over the years. Many of those on this blog.  But I am growing as a person and as a domain investor on this blog in front of your eyes.  It’s the price you pay by putting yourself out there.  Just because Aaron and I have decided to concentrate on our other forms of incomes doesn’t make us lesser domain investors and to some extent, actually lessens the chance we will change our opinions over ad revenue.  I actually feel we are better domainers because we work another job. We are using the prime years of our working life to build something and a nest egg that will give us income for the rest of our lives.  Not guaranteed, but probably more guaranteed than domain names.  I know personally I can make more and a more secure life for my family with my nursery than in domains.  And I can still  make six figures in Domain Investing on the side the way I’m doing it.   Aaron has gotten to travel the world on his domains’ dime.  I find it funny that people think we’ve sold out because we took a few hundred dollars from XYZ.   That money is so inconsequential in the scope of things.   We took the money for advertising because someone asked to advertise and we thought they were a good company. I didn’t get paid for TWO YEARS doing exactly the same thing as you see below.  Exactly the same.  So now I’m a sellout for getting paid to do it.  If that’s a sellout then I am looking to sell out more.  I am not telling anyone to buy anything.  I have always said what my opinions are and why I’ve made them.  You are all adults.  You make your own buying decisions.  If you like what I say, great.  If you don’t, tell me why because I can take it.  But don’t blame me for your actions. My words are not all powerful.  They are merely my opinion. And my opinion is shaped by many things.  I would be lying to think that they are not shaped by advertisers. They are shaped by friends and by people I respect, by articles I’ve read, and past experiences.  But wrong is wrong and I would never overlook wrong for a few hundred dollars.  I don’t need money that bad.  Someone that thinks that I would  doesn’t need to stop by and read anyway.   And while I have your attention.  Did you see the Flippa domain auction that’s already hit $50K?  It’s the biggest .ly “hack” portfolio to ever hit the market.   See what I did there? And yes, Flippa is an advertiser.  This is a perfect example.  Do you think I would have overlooked a domain auction of this size and price?  I have always talked about good names at auction.  The difference is now I am getting some appreciation from the companies that I have been giving all the free traffic and buyers for the past 5 years. And the readers are getting a few leads on something they may have missed.  To me its a win win and the great thing about a shitty name on my list  is you don’t have to buy it.     Here are today’s names  No Book of 10 this week.  Now taking names for Next Week  Not a tremendously valuable name but it’s 15 years old. Spelled correctly and a nice brandable for $12 IMO.  No bidders  I would say the same about this one but it’s a PR 3 and gets a few hundred visitors a month so the price has gone much higher  No bidders.  14 years old.  Nice fashion name  Decent for under $500  13 years old.  Good sports name   All good letters.  11 years old  Awesome I am bidding on this   Said this once already.  If you are going to sell weed, you might as well have an emporium  Probably the most famous zip code in America.   And a portfolio of other dot io names.  I’ve never owned a dot io but I wish I would have bought some early Reserve is $1000.  Keep an eye on this one as the prices are rising to the point that the reserve is getting close to the real value

NEW!!!! Working Godaddy Domain Code of the day.. 99 cent New Registration GOFD722A   What can you say other than bring your checkbook  I know it’s a dot org but there are a lot of people that speak Spanish that celebrate Christmas. No bidders so maybe Spanish is a dead language  Chinese is not dead.  These 5N.coms are getting lots of love  Which do you think has more bidders?  This one or the one above?  One has twice as many.  Do you know why? Kassey does  Popular name.  Maybe a billionaire named Carlos will buy it from you  I think I’ve been to 100 places called “The Villas”.  Of course they’ve all been for old people  Sounds awful.  Nice domain though  Fun weed name  Hot topic.  Even dot net has some value IMO  Enrollment way down but everything goes in cycles.  Even clowning  All good letters.  N for network

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details. *All names chosen by me, Shane, and the goal of this list is to have all links be paid through commission . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct.

Agreed. I appreciate your taking the time to write and share your thoughts and experience publicly. I pick from your blogs what I think is good for my own investment, but as an adult, I must take responsibility for my own decisions. I don’t mind people writing for whatever reason they have, I have learned to read between the lines and find bits and pieces of treasure that can be added to my own pool of domain knowledge. Thank you.
