Domain Chain’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Wednesday March 6th, 2018

Escrow.com

So who owns Namepros.com?  Does anyone know?  Rumor has it that James Iles owns it.  Actually I would say that half the people I asked thought it was him.  I don’t think it is but I really have zero idea who it is. Everyone has a different guess and some of the stories that come with them are hilarious. One person I talked to was thinking of filing a lawsuit just to see who responded.   I’m pretty sure none of the stories are true but everyone loves a good mystery.    With all the negative comments about the new buyers of DnForum it got me thinking.  How is it worse that we don’t like the owners of one site when the competitor is owned by an unnamed entity.  Are we to the point that not knowing is better than knowing?   That all your posts, data, and info can be seen by someone you don’t know and that’s cool.  That there is no accountability to a top level entity?

Namepros has been the best run, most professional, most popular domain forum on the net.  That is all most people care about and probably all they should care about.  Moderators care and do a good job.  Who owns it in reality doesn’t matter.  They don’t have to come forth and take credit for the hard work because it was just their money. Eric and James did the legwork.  That and all the mods and contributors.  But maybe James Iles does own it. Who knows?  Actually if you do know email me. I promise I won’t tell .  Unless you tell me I can tell and then I’ll tell.  Here are today’s names.    Click on them for current price

Quote of the Day:  “Life is a rotten lottery. I’ve had a pretty amazing life, a good life, and God knows I’m thankful, but I do believe that after 30, stop whining! Everybody’s dealt a hand, and it’s not fair what you get. But you’ve got to deal with it”  –John Waters

Domain of the Day:  Lectures.com    Perfect name for the online education market. Easily worth the reserve IMO

Namejet and Sedo Names at Auction

Merkl.com  Very popular Crypto site with a similar name.   And plenty of entities are using Merkle as their name.   Take off the e and make it cooler.  26 bidders

Zut.com   Uniregistry is leading the bidding which you don’t see very often on a LLL.com

Striving.com    Positive name that exudes effort.  Reserve may be doable

NBAF.com   Probably going to be good value because of the A.   And I wouldn’t worry about the basketball league going after you.  Just don’t infringe

ML.net   One of the best LL.net at auction in the last year

LocalCoupons.com   Coupon sites are plentiful but this is strong niche play.  The amount of bidders says they agree

AlphaEnergy.com   Energy names are becoming like media names.  Pretty much buying up any word + energy right now

Coinfit.com  At $200 at press time and met reserve

OpenChain.com  Met reserve and closes today.  Great name. Great price

Surrex.com   Upgrade name for the dozens of companies that share it

WorldOfDomains.com   Good name for someone in our industry

HealthyDepot.com   Not a big fan of depot names but the bidders like it so my opinion doesn’t matter

ElectionReform.com   Not as hot of a topic as it was but will always be a hot topic to the losing party

GhostNetwork.com   Great name for a VPN or proxy server

  1. I’d like to just confirm that I have absolutely nothing to do with the ownership of NP

      1. No problem! Edward & Eric work very hard on the site. I just write every now and then 😉

  2. Hahaha, that’s exactly what I’d say if I owned it and wanted to remain anonymous :p
In other news. Zut.com is now at $21000 and I own RZUT.com which makes it worth what? $2?

    1. Matthew,
I see nowhere where it say. Save us all the reading and just type it in. As for Escrow. It was never revealed who the private buyer was. But Escrow.com was regulated by every state and Texas and California are very very tough with their laws and reporting. Ask Andee Hill. Not saying its fullproof but its always more comfortable working with companies that are bound and audited by US law.

Now back to the original question. Do you know or not?

    1. Edward,
I completely understand. I read that. I also understand why that person would want to stay private. That being said, pretty hard to use the word transparency and anonymous in the same sentence. Nothing wrong with an entity having private owners as long as there is accountability somewhere.

  3. Chef Patrick? Did he ever return from his domain cruise? Maybe he docked at NamePros.
