Domain Spotlight:

Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.

Flips

Diss.com sold for 15,535 USD recently at Zandibot, vs 2,105 USD on 2012-03-10 at NameJet. An upgrade from DISS-PR.com, with its screenshot below. An acronym for Diagnostic Imaging Supplies and Services, Inc. The company works in the digital radiology, imaging and cardiology fields, and is based in Puerto Rico.

diss

PAHS.com sold for 3,666 USD recently at NameJet, vs 412 USD on 2015-07-24 at Flippa. Excellent return in under a year. Surprised to see such a high price on this one; it doesn’t pass the radio test, so perhaps there is a meaning in another language that I’m not aware of.

CBMH.com sold for 1,400 USD recently at NameJet, vs 247 USD on 2014-01-11 at GoDaddy. The seller could have received over $2k a few months back for this domain, but around 5x in a little over two years is pretty solid in my book.

BrokerInsight.com sold for 2,865 USD recently at BuyDomains, vs 130 USD on 2015-03-19 at GoDaddy. Excellent 22x return before commissions. The buyer appears to be a web development company.

HZQ.net sold for 2,275 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 1,259 USD on 2015-04-28 at GoDaddy. These have dropped in value recently from around $3k, but the seller still got a solid return in a year.

Flops

15235.com sold for 2,102 USD recently at NameJet, vs 2,951 USD on 2015-11-23 at GoDaddy. The first of a couple numerics in the red.

226388.com sold for 720 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,060 USD on 2015-12-23 at GoDaddy.

XSSY.com sold for 1,381 USD recently at NameJet, vs 2,226 USD on 2015-11-27 at GoDaddy. The first of a few LLLL.com domains with a hold of less than a year.

FSDB.com sold for 1,500 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,500 USD on 2015-10-16 at NameJet. 15% commissions = $225 loss.

MMRO.com sold for 399 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,221 USD on 2015-06-25 at NameJet.

BancGroup.com sold for 789 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 2,000 USD on 2008-12-23 at Afternic.

GoodFolks.com sold for 353 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,500 USD on 2013-06-17 at Afternic. Good folks, bad domain investment.

Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
