Domain Spotlight:

stairsI’m just back from 4 days of volunteer trail building in the mountains through the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (14ers.org), and we got worked HARD. A quick picture is to the right with part of the crew, me in the middle, and the new stairs we worked on at about 12,500′ of elevation, to control some erosion in that part of the trail. As nice as our new stairs look, the view from the work site wasn’t too shabby either…..a picture of that is at the bottom of the post.

Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.

Flips

BiteBite.com sold for 8,800 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 112 USD on 2015-07-19 at GoDaddy. Wow, heck of a sale in a year….78x before commissions. The new owner is an individual in NYC, and the domain still has a Uniregistry inquiry page.

NaturalGolf.com sold for 3,666 USD recently at BuyDomains, vs 314 USD on 2016-07-16 at NameJet. Presumably this was an end user sale, but the Whois info hasn’t updated yet.

RedHen.com sold for 5,260 USD recently at NameJet, vs 2,555 USD on 2015-11-29 at NameJet. A double before commission in less than a year? The brandable market sure is hot.

CannabisMag.com sold for 2,600 USD recently at NameJet, vs 360 USD on 2015-07-18 at NameJet. Surprised to see a 7x return before commission in a year, on the same domainer platform.

Flops

Jean.com sold for 48,000 USD recently at Sedo, vs 50,000 USD on 2014-01-17 at NameJet. When taking into consideration the commission (assuming 15%), that’s a nearly $10k loss.

CFL.org sold for 2,220 USD recently at NameJet, vs 12,000 USD on 2011-06-08 at Afternic.

SuperPlumbing.com sold for 1,000 USD recently at Sedo, vs 10,000 USD on 2011-01-25 at Sedo.

ShoppersMart.com sold for 399 USD recently at NameJet, vs 5,932 USD on 2013-05-20 at Afternic.

TheBestLinks.com sold for 165 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 15,207 USD on 2011-03-02 at Sedo. Ouch. $15k down the drain.

Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
