I want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all our American readers and a wonderful Thursday to everyone else. Today I am surrounded by family and then the leave for the in laws in the afternoon. A perfect day. Lots of friends and family and then on my own the rest of the day to do whatever the heck I want. Thankful to have both my parents and 3 of my grandparents still with us to enjoy the day. I don’t take that for granted.
For the first time in 13 years I’m in the market for a big TV. 13 years ago I spent $10,000 on a tv and speaker system. I had a great week trading so I took out $10K and went to my local tv shop and told them to give me the best tv and built in speakers I could get for the price. It was a Sony 40″ plasma. It was $6K. That same TV is about $150 now. But its been great. Not one problem and quality that could compete with today’s TVs until the last few years. Honestly we’ve been hoping it would go out so that we can get a little bigger tv and and OLED but the damn thing just kept going. I have been thumping it hard every night before I would go to bed hoping a line would appear. Nothing. But FINALLY a couple lines have started appearing. It was fading in an out but turned out to be a loose cable. But I haven’t told my wife that. She might be able to live with a few lines.
But she gave me the go ahead this week. She gave me $1000 limit but that means $2K because I always double her limits. Which pretty much gets me an 60-65″ tv I want. If I get a great black friday deal I may actually get an OLED under $1000. So for the first time ever I get to spend some money Friday instead of just working all day helping others spend it. Enjoy the day, enjoy your friends and family, and thank you for spending a little of your time reading this silly little article each day.
