Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday June 10th, 2019

Escrow.com

When the Internet came about my goal was always to build an asset that I could sell.  Problem was the only thing I had time to build was an asset built around me.  I wrote in my style. Had one employee, me, and everything revolved around me. It’s kind of hard to sell when your asset is just you.  But somehow I was able to sell my site/blog, Wallstreet Fighter.  I sold it to Break Media and LionsGate Films. They had assumed I had a team of writers on site but when I started negotiating price they realized I was a one man show.  My deal included me staying on for two years to help writers write in “my style”.  To pretend they were me.  The bought the site because of the traffic and the personality I had given it and that’s what they wanted to continue and grow.  I figured they could bring in professionals and do a better job than I was.  And they did a great job.  One, because they had a staff.  Writers, graphic artists, web people.  Two, because it was now full time.   It would have done extremely well except the stock market crash made Wall Street not so funny in 2008 so they had to change directions.  The site became MadeMan.com and and transitions into a pure mens lifestyle site.  They let me out of my deal early as long as I signed a one year non compete.  I took it, the money, and didn’t compete with the best of them.  I started trading again and didn’t mess with the web for a year.
I never had any intentions of selling DSAD and now I have great partners so its not mine to sell anyway.  It’s a team, a company.  Working with a group on a project is so much more enjoyable than doing it yourself.  You work alone for only two reasons.  One, there isn’t enough money to add partners.  Two, you’re just not good at, or enjoy working with, others.  Otherwise its a no brainer. You split up the work and can broaden the ideas at the table.  If its a website there is more content. There are plenty of examples of great assets built alone but for every one of those I can point to dozens built by great teams. There has to be a leader or captain but he/she gets there with a team.   With the great DSAD experience, my next non domain asset sale will definitely be built with a company and team.  Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on
