Call it middle age, call it satisfied. When I came home from Kenya I was a changed person. In one swift movement I had moved from counting coins to counting experiences. I get off the path every once in a while but there is always something to nudge me back in. Yesterday’s nudge back in was my domain friend Andy Booth announcing on Facebook that he had been diagnosed with throat cancer. My Mother in Law had throat cancer and had a very good recovery and has felt good for many years since. So I know first hand that a “normal” life can follow a throat cancer diagnosis. But seeing a vivacious, athletic, non smoking, Andy get this diagnosis reminds me that you just don’t know where life is going.
Andy is one, if not the best, domain investor I know. Garry Chernoff has always been the person I look up to but Andy has the domain lifestyle I yearn to have. He is always smiling and having a great around the world. I can’t be around Andy without laughing. Even the simplest story told with his English accent has me smiling. He is truly a joy to be around. I can tell all his friends feel the same way. All of it financed with domains. There aren’t many high profile domains that haven’t passed through his hands at one point. When its all said and done, he may be considered the best domain Flipper EVER. I don’t expect his cancer diagnosis to slow him down but I imagine its going to cause everyone to miss a step. To sit and ponder what we’re doing on a daily basis. Fortunately for Andy he is already doing what we all need to do more. Spending time with friends and family, seeing the world, and enjoying a little bit more of life besides grinding it out at work all the time.
I promise to stop writing all the mushy stuff starting tomorrow. Just a few things that have come up that get my mind in a certain mindset. I’ll get harder…I promise. Here are today’s names. Click through to see the current price

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
Don’t stop writing the mushy stuff. It’s Good stuff 🙂
Crap, I didn’t see Andys post. I’ll go find it.
The mushy stuff is OK… It makes us stop and think how grateful we should be to have good health…
Shane,
Life is so much more than buying/selling domains. I hope you keep being “Shane” and write what ever you feel like.
BTW… Wilson Rawls wrote Where the Red Fern Grows. I must had read it at least 10 times. Have you seen the movie?
Cheers
+1. Fully agree
Ken,
I haven’t watched the movie because I’ve read the book so many times. In my head they look and sound a certain way. I don’t want to ruin it by watching the movie and seeing different people 🙂
Yes, you never know when stuff like that is going to happen. Time is precious.
Oh, just checked out timeisprecious.com – it forwards to justwakeuphappy.com…
