Do you take a profit or do you press on? It’s a question domain investors ask us all the time. While you can’t look back and think about how much more you could have made if you kept the names you sold, you certainly can make a decision whether or not you HAVE to sell. I had to sell because I used the profit to buy more names. That certainly was the case in the first half of my domain investing career. The names weren’t that good and I was lucky to sell them. But the second half I would have been better off just holding the names. Because the names I sold are now more valuable than anything I bought using the money from the sale. Its easy to say in hindsight but it now makes me think about what I am selling and what I feel the future of that name holds. I am selling certain types and holding certain types based on what I feel the price growth of each type in the next 3 years will be. I don’t sell every name that gets a profitable offer like I used to. I am actually growing my portfolio when many are thinning it out. But I don’t feel I have much junk in my portfolio. Sure some, but my names are mostly garden related or short. And a few others mixed in. And I’m trying to add quality every month. To the point that my portfolio is actually bigger than ever. In comparison to most domain investors it is actually very tiny. But I’m not worried about the size, I’m worries about the value of the names and I’m doing fine in that area….or at least I think I am. Here are today’s names
