Yesterday turned out to be a pretty good day. I set a new PR in my marathon with a time of 3 hours, 9 minutes and 5 seconds. While I’m proud of the time which isn’t too shabby for a 45 year old (7 minutes 10 second pace per mile), I’m probably more proud that I’ve knocked my time down at least 2 minutes each year for the last 9 years. Getting old and stronger takes some work. It was best race ever after 25 marathons, not because it was my fastest but because it was my best run. I went with how I felt and then pushed a little harder as I went along rather than blowing up early and holding on. I got stronger and stronger and actually ran faster in the last 13 miles than I did the first. Of course it helped I was well prepared. And like so many things in life, things go better when you have a little experience and you have the training to do actually back up what your brain wants you to do. We’ll take a break and then figure out the next thing to try. Have a good day. Here are today’s names. NOW TAKING NAMES FOR THIS FRIDAY’S BOOK OF 10. $20 A NAME OR TWO FOR $30. IF I MISSED YOUR EMAIL PLEASE RESEND AS I WAS A LITTLE PREOCCUPIED THIS PAST WEEKEND AND DID A POOR JOB OF ANSWERING.
