DomainShane’s BIG LIST of Domain Name Auction Picks: Wednesday, June 24th, 2015

Escrow.com

Yesterday it was announced that autism.rocks sold for $100K .   Great for Rightside, great for the seller and the buyer.  But it has exactly zero relevance when it comes to comparable or impact on .rocks value.  It is merely a publicity purchase of which there are a lot.  Some are obvious, some have not been.  Autism is a great cause and it’s something I have given money towards for quite a long time. Most recently to Alan and Alek Dunn who have raised thousands for Autism over the past few years.  In short, a fantastic cause, worthy of publicity and your donation.  But it was not a story about the future of new Gs or .rocks.   Domains sell for more than I think every single day.  But this one is the most odd of them all.  Here are today’s names

PCTT.com  19 year old LLLL.coms are the kind you want to own.  If its that old there’s a 99% chance its a good LLLL.com

TheDevelopers.com   Buildings, websites, coders.  So many uses for this one

Kapali.com  A last name so its people, places, and things.  1.7 million results

CSLM.com  Surprised its this high.  Not your typical Chinese or English high flyer

GetRemoved.com Not sure what you’re going to offer to remove but No bidder. $12

StartNew.com  Hard to believe this one doesn’t have a bid on it

GlassWizard.com   I figured there was already a product with this name and I was right.  No bidders

MotorVehicle.org  Good name for a sub domain.  If the DMV can call it a motor vehicle, I’m going to call it a motor vehicle

H41.com  These (LNN with a 4) have been going from $750 to $1500, with a few exceptions

617222.com  Not going as high as some of the other 222 domains but still pretty good return regardless for the seller, although it may be a drop

535222.com  Even smaller price even though I like it more

807222.com  And this one can be had for under $50 at press time

QDMT.com  Q for Quality and Price

Chompsy.com  Great food brand for this low price

VERIFIED GODADDY COUPON CODE: $1.99 New Registration Godaddy STATE

King.io  Nice clean dot io brand.  The seller might be a bit overzealous on the best brand able thing

BFH.com  I would think this would easily hit 25 or 30K but no luck so far

Fish.io  If you like King you gotta love Fish

MoldInspection.com     Mold is a huge problem and any mortgage company will make you take care of it immediately.  Any company that handles mold should want to own this one

QT.com  First LL.com I’ve seen up for auction in years

Interest.net  Looks like the owner is going to take whatever he can get.  No reserve

Oceanics.com   At $1.  Solid name for anything ocean related.  I’m thinking ocean wave power but that may be a little too small of a niche

ElectricEngineering.com   13 years old.  $8 plus CPC.  A buildout would yield the best returns but selling it to someone that is going to do that would work as well.  One bidder

SEDO’s Live Auctions Going on Now

ADGC.com  As good of an LLLL.com you can find for English speakers

PersonFinder.com  As discussed on DomainSherpa.com   People finder sites seem to still do well.

Wooty.com  I like these kind of 5L.com brands but only 7 other people do too

Puka.com  Yes, puka as in puka shell.  Love it.  The domain, not the necklace

OceanEnergy.com  Pure chance this comes up after talking about Oceanics above.  Buy both and start your wave power company

NJSN.com   New Jersey Sports Network

  1. “Domains sell for more than I think every single day. But this one is the most odd of them all.” (autism.rocks)

I consider this purchase an outlier.

I don’t know if this was purchased by an individual who might donate it or an organization. But, is this the best use of money for a cause that is in desperate need of research money? Like many of us, I also financially support a couple different autism organizations.

I guess we will see over the next couple years if this purchase generates more donations than the .com ???

  2. Just noticed a moment ago, Andrew did an investigative report on this transaction. Thanks.
