My friends over at the .desi registry are excited about a recent sale and asked if I could relay the information to our readers. If you’re not familiar with the .desi gTLD it is a new G that is targeting the Indian market. The .desi Registry (owners of dot Desi extension), world’s first domain recognizing Indians across the globe have recently sold a premium domain name called Explorers.desi to Marinating films – a subsidiary of Balaji Telefilms, for $5000.
Co-founded by two brothers, Ravin and Sid Ohri, .desi is a brand new domain focussing on Indians worldwide and aims to bring together the desi population via a common extension.
According to Marinating films, which already has high value properties like Box Cricket League and Television Style Awards, reason to choose a .desi domain name was the Indian appeal it had. Since their new property desi explorers is a celebrity show which showcases different celebrities, with different interests such as food, shopping, partying, nature etc, .desi seemed to be flaunting desi quotient in the world.
Now since the big giants have started shifting their focus on .desi registry, is it the buzz for other businesses/individuals across the globe to start adding a desi twist to their domain names is what we are yet to see.
Thank you to .Desi for sponsoring today’s post. Thanks to their generous support we are one step closer to producing our first batch of DSAD T-Shirts. The First 50 of which will be free and given out to our readers this summer. Now on to today’s names. . Click to see current prices
