Oops, a few days of hiking and biking in the Columbia River Gorge area of Washington and Oregon (and no internet access) caused a couple day delay on this recap of last week’s notable domain and website sales at Flippa.
The $62k portfolio sale of City+Hotels.net was an interesting one last week. Of the 23 domains, only ParisHotels.net, SanFranciscoHotels.net and BaltimoreHotels.net were developed and provide monthly net profit of $2,100. Some of the undeveloped domains include major business and tourist destinations such BerlinHotels.net, TokyoHotels.net, DallasHotels.net, BeijingHotels.net, SydneyHotels.net and CancunHotels.net. The corresponding .com’s for the Sydney and Cancun hotels domains each sold for $100k+ in the past. I know that .net’s have taken a beating, but at an average price under $3,000 per domain, it certainly seems like there is some upside here for a savvy developer to sell off a few domains (the seller said they received an offer last week for $5k on CancunHotels.net individually) and build out others.
