Domain Spotlight:

I wasted about a 100 hours this past week playing a stupid game on my phone. I know it’s a waste of time, and generally harmless if played to pass idle time, but some of these damn games are addicting and expensive.

These companies must be making a killing. I played a “Skillz” game 21 Blitz, a blackjack solitaire, card counting game. It’s supposed to a game based on skill, but it certainly has the feel of gambling mixed in. I’ve played it at different times of day for several days, and without fail there are a few user names that are always playing. They must not have anything else to do in life, maybe they make enough money that it’s now their job.

I have to stop playing the crack like game, not because of the little bit of money it cost, but because it’s making me waste too much time.

Playing the game did make be think of one ,rather important, thing that relates to the domain world; the horrible user names that people come up with to use. Most are horrible, I don’t even know what they mean. At first I just assumed they were bots or something, that’s how horrible the names are.

It made me realize that there may be a correlation between branding your online gaming presence with a horrible name, and the inability of many people to pick good domains.

The take away is that people need help finding a choosing good domains; and don’t start playing any of these stupid games, if you value your time.
