Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Sunday January 26th, 2020

Escrow.com

I realized something the other day. I have not had a day in 14 years where I didn’t make some amount of money from a side gig on the Internet. Not one single day. In 2005 I started a website and by 2006 I had at least one site doing well enough that I had daily income of some form or another. Then parking, affiliate programs, and adsense came around and it became pretty easy from that point on. Sure there were days where it was a few dollars but there was always something.

They say that a wealthy person always has at least two forms of income. I’ve always felt that if you do it right, one will work, but its nice to have backup or extra coming in. It’s what we all dream of right? When I built my site WallStreeFighter back in the day, I used to watch the traffic and revenue like a trading account. I would literally just keep it live in the corner of my computer screen. There were times it was the top article at Reddit or Digg and I could watch hundreds of thousands of people visit it over that day and the next. I learned what it means to have the “lets do it again” syndrome. When something you do goes viral and you get so many likes or visits it become a rush and you want it to happen again. So you try and repeat it but it was a special moment that can’t be repeated. What you learn is to build on those moments. You learn what people are looking for and how to present in a way that is more popular. But it’s impossible to match or understand why one thing is popular vs one that isn’t.

Those viral posts, those visitors, that income was so new to me and so exciting. In hind site, for years it wasn’t that much money. But that money paid for my Internet, and then my phone, and then my computer, and eventually a car. And I was just as excited when I made enough one month to pay for my Internet as I was buying a car with side money I had earned. I remember it like it was yesterday. After all those years, I still don’t take for granted what goes on here. You all take your time each day to stop by, read a little quip, and then quickly peruse a list to see if there are any names you like. And you’re nice enough to click through and buy one if you like it. You don’t have to but you do. I have been told by so many people that anyone can do a list. And its true. Anyone can build a website. Anyone can do every single thing I do. But for 14 years I’ve done something. That’s the key. Consistency. Consistency will wear out your opponents. Will wear out your competitors. It’s the Rocky way of doing it. You’re better than me but I’m going to keep doing it until everyone else retires or gives up. 🙂 . What I write here every day isn’t always good stuff. But its always here. You have a better chance of my post being here than you do of your car starting each day. And I say that going in to NamesCon which has been the reason I’ve missed the only posts I’ve missed on this site. But now we have Travis, Josh, and Mike so I’m sure we’ll be fine this week.
