“Sweet Spot” Buy It Now Pricing: Cax May Have Something Here

One of our main goals as a domain investor is to sell names.  Sometimes we have great returns.  Sometimes we sell for cash flow.  There are those like Rick Schwartz that say hold off for the big money and there are those that have had a change of heart like Frank Schilling, and have started to raise capital by being bringing down the asking price for some of the lesser value names. Either way, the only way we have right now to make money is to sell or develop

When I received an email from Francois discussing fixed priced domains at $500 and $1000 my first instinct as a businessman was “why the hell am I not doing that”.   By pricing them at a fixed price, both the buyer and the seller know going into the deal exactly what the price is going to be.  That is except the owner of Histogram.com.  He was high when he entered the name and when he sobered up,  he reneged on the transaction.  Otherwise, it’s great for both ends.  Buyer gets instant cash and seller can avoid the auction and negotiation process.  Also, by going over that $500 range you take out the millions of junk domains that come into play.  Its not to say that a few didn’t make it into this mix but for the most the quality was decent for a first attempt.  I’d be curious to hear what people thought were the best few names, and the worst of the entire list below.  I liked two but not enough to pull the trigger(histogram not included) and looking forward to see what the next list holds. If someone really needs cash or has brandables, I would think this would be a good tool for them.
