Listed below are updates to the top 10 domain sales from a year ago, as ranked by DN Journal.
1. Luxe.com sold for $172,500
An upgrade from LuxeValet.com, although they still have an identical site live at each domain. They’ve raised over $25 million in funding, “Founded and based in San Francisco, Luxe is a new service that sends valets to park for you, wherever you are – it’s fast, affordable and convenient.” Alexa rank near 270,000.
2. Generational.com sold for $70,000
A simple ‘coming soon’ lander is live. Ownership is under privacy protection.
3. SmartWatches.com sold for $35,000
The domain is parked, and owned by an individual in South Korea. It has a BIN of only $500,000 at Afternic.
4. MNB.com sold for $23,850
The placeholder says a social media project is in the works. Their video links to the FashionOne.com website, and we’ve discussed the owners previously as the buyers of FashionWeeks.com for $45,000 back in 2013.
5. AdTheory.com sold for $23,688
Not surprisingly, this is the new home of an ad shop, “At AdTheory, we offer all forms of Digital Advertising; Display, Mobile, Video, and Programmatic, all with the highest level of Ad-Fraud blocking.” Alexa rank near 7.7 million.
6. Expekt.gr sold for $21,200
The website is restricted to me, but it’s a betting site according to search engine results, “Online Betting in Sports with Expekt” “Offers betting in 7 different languages and licensed UK bookmaker.” Alexa rank near 450,000.
7. Sell.org sold for $20,000
This one is up for sale on Flippa, with 11 days to go in the auction. Owned by an individual in Calgary.
7. Titin.com sold for $20,000
An upgrade from TitinTech.com. “World’s Only Weighted Compression Gear!”
9. True.co sold for $17,000
You can see the placeholder below, but I can’t tell much more about the site, as the links lead to minimal content.
10. Getir.com sold for $15,000
The traffic leader for the week, with an Alexa rank near 165,000. This Istanbul, Turkey based company provides a 24/7 delivery service, and their app has had over 100,000 downloads. Appears to be servicing just Istanbul, for now. “Essential items delivered instantly. Getir is the solution to big city problems. Don’t bother with going out and shopping, at the tap of a button, Getir will bring you your essential items.”
Great post, really enjoyed this. For years I have wanted to see this very thing, i.e. a review of sold domains and a report of what happened with them. I can guarantee that there are some very interesting trends & stories to be revealed by analyzing domain sales and how they are (or are not) used in the following year.
Thanks M., there are a couple years’ worth of those posts at the following link:
