This week one of my favorite people at the nursery left. She was a college student that came up to the counter and politely said “are you hiring?” and turned out to be one of the smartest people I met. She stayed for three years but she is moving on. It started out just for the summer and she showed me all the possibilities that a talented graphic design person could add to the team. To me personally she was more than that. She understood what I was trying to do. She could take the silliness and creative that I threw out and bundle it in a package that was unique, fun, but not my messy self. Not for one second did I take it for granted. I knew that these were special times that would not last forever. Great people come into your life, make that time special, and move towards wherever their goals take them. Only your spouse gets to spend eternity with you. Everyone else is a moment in time that is good as you make it. As Winnie the Pooh said “Don’t cry because its over, Smile because it happened”
I write this because I’m not sure if people that don’t love their job or own their business truly understand how having great coworkers can make you look forward to the next day. I still have many at the nursery. They are great people. Just every once in a while you get one that makes your life so much easier and a little more exciting than if they weren’t there. I was talking to another person that had a similar situation and the person they worked with left with little to no notice. He was upset that the person left. He knew the guy couldn’t stay forever. He was too good to stay in that role and there wasn’t an upward role for him, so it was a matter of time. But he left with one week’s notice. It hurt him personally. Felt that the person didn’t care about him at all and even though though he was an employee thought they were somewhat friends. I am smart enough to know that if you’re the boss you’re not friends. He was too. The hierachy doesn’t allow it. But it doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt like as if you are good friends.
I’ve had some great interviews for replacement and I have no doubt I will have someone do a great job in that role. Life will continue, I will continue to do great things as will that person. But I do know it was a special time and a hell of a time. Making Country Arbors better, creating Beehouse, messing with NFTs, talking crypto and the craziness of the Internet. I learned and made more money in the last 3 years than my other 50. All with this person enjoying the ride from the desk across the room. Both taking with us stories that few will believe and we’ll remember forever. It’s how business should be. Fun, exciting, creating great things and moving forward. Unfortunately forward isn’t always with the same people.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
I like Quadron.com. Too bad it is at namejet. I have been trying for months to get an approved account there. Takes them weeks at a time to get back to me with yet more “verifications”. After the ID, weeks later they need photo with me holding the ID, weeks later they just asked for ID, plus a pic of me holding ID, plus “a card showing today’s date” and also saying “namejet”. Must be a new thing they are doing there. Anyone else getting this, or know of a person I could talk to over there?
