One of the main reasons I left the nursery was I finally realized that I was building my Dad’s dream. In the vision that he wanted. I was bowling with bumpers on for 3 decades. Always thinking I was playing but realizing he was always pretending like I had control of the vision but correcting every time it didn’t align with what he wanted to do. I enjoyed most of the time there. I love plants, I love building, but retail eats you up. Add in the 45 plus employees and the management of them and I began to grow tired of the day to day. Add in the pressure of my brother wanting to do his thing and it was an easy choice to let them have complete control. My Dad hasn’t spoken to me since and my brother is nice to me in person but has done everything to cut me off behind the scenes. I am completely good with that. Makes transition easier from my side. No work. You would think I think of the nursery all the time. Especially since I live 2 miles away. I don’t. I only think of the good times and how happy I am. I love plants more than every and truly enjoy planting and digging and having 5 minutes of free time. I have been eating my lunches in the bathroom for 20 years because I never could get 15 minutes to myself in the spring. Now I take as long as I want.
I still have a fear that I won’t have enough money to not work for the next 40 years but domains and the other side income I have seems to be holding me off. At least year one. I question whether I just want to keep 10 different forms of small income coming or have one big one again but that will happen when it happens. I’m looking but not forcing. I don’t HAVE to do anything which is a great place to be. Whatever I do, if I do will be a shared vision. No more building someone else’s dreams

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
An idea for you, a specialty nursery, mainly direct to consumer and online.
Check out WigertsBonsai.com, located in Ft. Myers, FL.
I’ve thought about it. But I need to find a nursery to fulfill. Our nursery is not really set up for that
Hi Shane !
Hope all is well and retirement is treating you well.
I noticed some dot finance on the list every now and then.
I feel it has a small bit of traction for the space. I only have a couple at the moment but one is sportsbook.finance
My question I guess is wouldn’t that make a great defi betting site ?
Maybe I’m crazy.
Just want a second opinion.
I appreciate your opinion.
It’s not bad but there are a ton of options for that space that work
Thanks for sharing such personal thoughts Shane. Sorry to hear your Father has not spoken with you since. BTW, great Domain Sherpa show yesterday!
Thanks Mike. I keep forgetting we have to approve all comments so sorry for the delay
