THE BIG AFTERMARKET LIST: Saturday’s Domains at Auction or Dropping on May 31st, 2014

Escrow.com

Yesterday was a big day for Aaron and I.  We joined team .XYZ.  I’ve told you that I don’t think there is much value in most of the next gTLDs and I still don’t, but there are a few that stand out from the rest. .XYZ is one of them.  There are two reasons why I have put my money (yes I am now an owner of new gTLDS) and support behind XYZ.  One, I have always been a buyer of short, memorable,  and universal names. I was buying numerics, numeric dot.cc and CCC.com when everyone else told me that exact match was what I needed to be doing.  I understand why people want their tlds to mean something. To express what they like or represent.  But there is also a need for a url that people can remember.  Whether verbally or driving by at 60 mph.  If your customers can’t remember your domain it doesn’t do much good.  XYZ does a great job in this respect.  It represents anything you want it to.  Two, Daniel Negari is behind the name.  Michael Berkens said it best when we discussed XYZ.  In not so many words he said, XYZ will succeed because Daniel Negari is the kind of person that makes things succeed.  I want to work and put my money into people like Daniel.  Daniel has kept the pricse down, the rules simple and works with Godaddy.  I don’t think any gTLD will succeed without Godaddy. I was looking through THIS to find short numerics and I found two I really liked but all the best three number numerics have been taken.  I can’t even buy my way to the front of the line for 888.xyz. But I found a few that I think already have more value than what I will pay (if I get them)  Time will tell, but I am willing to put a few dollars into the short xyzs in the hopes that the China market will take to the numerics like they have dot cc and dot net.  Expect us to join a few more teams and yes .gardening will be one of them for obvious reasons.

LTOA.com  Ends in A and 19 years old.  Good enough for me

5446.net  One four bad, two fours good.  This name has increased in value dramatically in the last 6 months.  I think it goes up from here. My opinion of course

833.xyz  These are the types of names it’s worth taking a gamble on. Available …or was when I wrote this.  Very memorable and rhymes

CrossRock.com  15 years old.  Upgrade domain for a few companies

URegistry.com  I like it better than uniregistry.  No bidders

Refuser.com  Dictionary word for $12.  Should be able to make money if you get it for that price

LightningRifle.com  PR3, gets some traffic.  Collectible type of antique gun

RebelHQ.com  Already met auction reserve.  Rebel headquarters had a lot more interest than I originally thought

Working Godaddy Domain Code of the day.. 99 cent Transfer or New Registration GOFD722A

ECG.net   17 years old.  One of the better LLL.nets up for sale in a while

NorthPoleCasino.com  How do you think Santa pays for all those toys?  A ton of casino names on Namejet today

TrophyWives.com  If it isn’t a reality show already it will be eventually

MarketingSkills.com  So many people lack them.  Can buy them here

EPEE.com  All these bidders probably not thinking virtual pee

2CA.com  Will be interesting to see how this NLL.com does vs Godaddy.  Better bidders at Namejet for most things

iShirts.com  i anything has value.  Shippable even better.  T-shirts sold using pretty girls…..gold

TheDrama.com Comes as part of a package when you have a daughter

93929.com  Memorable because of the spacing on the 9s.  Increases in value IMO

Have a name at auction and need more exposure?  Send me an email. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.   *All names chosen by me, Shane, and the goal of this list is to have all links be paid through commission . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct.

  1. So by your logic numerics in dotchinese online (.在线) and dotchinesewebsite (.中文网) should also be a wise investment. What are your thoughts on this?

    1. I don’t speak or read Chinese, nor does most of the world. This is a Chinese only tld and thus is limiting. The best tlds are limiting. That’s why they buy numbers. It’s universal

  2. I wish you would have stayed neutral, most haven’t. I trying to reconcile what you said in the past.

“If I am going to buy shit like a CC at least I know it’s shit up front and can take it from there.”

“If .xyz has a chance then .cc will do even better.”

“Again, if XYZ has any value then dot cc has more in my opinion.”

So if you think .cc is shit. And you think .cc is better than .xyz. Aren’t you saying .xyz is less than shit?

    1. Jonathan,

I don’t completely disagree with some of my past thoughts but I have grown to like dot cc for what it offers. I own Christmas.cc, Santaclaus.cc, lawyers.cc, creativity.cc, and a few more. I like the value that it possesses and it’s easy to remember. As people get used to new endings I think it will grow in value. It is the “shit” of tlds but I still like what I get for the price. As I said in the paragraph. Michael Berkens changed my opinion on how to approach the new tlds. Consider who is behind and promoting the tlds as much as the name itself. I like things that have the potential to become popular and I feel xyz does. It may not be now but again, I think it provides value. And I still agree that if xyx does well then cc will probably have increased in value. I also like dot club and I don’t work with them. I just like their marketing and branding. I love .gardening because I know the market. There are a few more I like but I will wait and see how they are marketed

  3. But you have to agree that there are a large number of NNN and NNNN .coms that are in Chinese. So it would follow that they would want what’s right of the dot to match the content on their websites. Plus, there is an inherent value in numbers in Chinese culture that extends past the fact that numbers are universal…

  4. That Daniel Negari cat is a real go getter with his finger on the pulse of Gen Y’ers and beyond. If anyone can get xyz rolling, it’s him.
