Domain Spotlight:

IKE’S LIST OF DOMAINS AT AUCTION FOR Tuesday, May 1st

Escrow.com

I had to go to the dentist today because my face and head felt like it was gonna explode. They fixed a tooth for the 5th time. Every time there’s some issue with the new filling. This is why people get addicted to opiates, they didn’t give me any but there was a point where I would have risked addiction to heroin just to make it stop.

Maybe I should find a new dentists.

I bet it was karma, the domain gods were punishing my tooth for swearing at the Enom support people.

That Enom clown car continues to drive along unabated. Today they emailed me saying that the issue might me with my credit card. Well that obviously wasn’t the issue since I can renew .com’s for $9 with said card.

Finally the last email they sent me today said that they changed my account from a namejet reseller to a regular retail account. The cost for renewing a .net is $49.95…. No thanks, you can go “F” yourself Enom.

You can’t figure your shit out so your solution is to charge me $50 instead of $9? As I said before, I told them that I thought the price of the .net was too low at $9, they blamed everything else finally raising the price to $49.95.

If any registrar, or business for that matter, is looking for examples on driving customers to the competition, enom is a good example.

One thing I didn’t mention in the first article is the level of support staff cluelessness regarding the domain lifecycle at their registrar. The rep kept telling me that I had 45 days according to their policy to renew the domain. Then after that I’d have to pay the $300 restoration fee to icann. Lol.

There are so many things erroneous with this statement  that it makes me think about the poor bastard, non domaine,r customer that might deal with their support.

The problem exists with many registrars, namely the ones that have some kind of expiration auction. Sure 45 days might be the policy, but it says nothing about the auction process that will happen at some point in that 45 days. Otherwise the registrar would have to pay to restore the domain. The registrar is misleading it’s customers if it is telling them these things.

Also the $300 doesn’t go to icann, it goes to Verisign to restore the domain, with the max $ amount the registrar can charge being $80.  Enom is taking the balance as a “processing fee” and blaming f-ing icann! LMAO.

I knock the expired auction process with a grain of salt, DSAD.com is able to be published because of commission gained by processing the lists of domains at auction, saving the reader time and energy.

But I have to say I have a real problem with the lack of transparency from most registrars that participate in expired inventory auctions.

The general domain owner has no idea how this works, and if they were to look at Enom’s policy or hear it from a help tech they would be severely mislead.

Ok I’m halfway through sorting the list and all the Novocaine has worn off.  If I don’t finish I’ve either passed out or hung myself.

  1. Josh- your pain came across this entire post- both tooth and domain related- glad you can at least have a sense of humor about it! Hang in there- hope you sell some names to pay for that hefty dentist bill!

    Mike

    1. Ha, thanks Mike, They didn’t charge me since they keep redoing the same tooth.

  2. Anyone see what 虛擬現實.com sold for on Namepros?

I assume there was a BIN, but I was too late clicking on the link to see it.

    1. I didn’t see, maybe Eric from namepros knows. He does the picking and sends them to me.
