CHINESE SALES TRENDS FOR APRIL 12, 2016

For those who haven’t read it yet, there was an interesting interview posted on Namepros a little over a week ago.  The interview is with Daniel Chen, the CEO of 190.com, and it covers several subjects including his take on the value of 4L and 5N .coms going forward.  He is bullish on both categories and specifically states that 5N.coms are heavily undervalued.  He is also very bullish on .co.   190.com is now an ICANN accredited registrar with an English version coming out soon.  I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes.

Of course, many of the comments to the interview are negative talking about how Mr. Chen inflated the 4L.com market and then cashed in and caused the crash.  A separate article reports that 190.com purchased 7,000 4L.coms last year which is 4.4% of them.  Is that enough to swing a market?  Certainly to some degree.  But unless he unloaded most or all of them, what incentive does he have to crash the market?

The 7,000 4L CHIPs is 4.4% of ALL CHIPs – that is true. But I would bet they are a substantial majority of CHIPs that were SOLD during the second half of 2015. So, yes, he most likely WAS the market and the reason for the run-up. When supply is constant but demand decreases, prices fall. He didn’t tank the market, No one else came in to take his place.
