Anyone that has children will tell you that raising them is one of the hardest and best things we do in our lives. Not everyone has a choice of whether or not children are part of their lives, but if one is fortunate enough to have them, you will learn one thing.  It’s not about you any more. It actually never was but your child will certainly remind you of that every day.  Your entire day is built around them.  Your free time, your schedule is built around there’s.  I’m not complaining, I’m just saying. I kid young people like Shane Bellone about being young.  It’s in jest but every thing is fun and games until you add someone to this world that relies on you.  You can be tough and confident until you hold this thing in your arms that you have no idea what the hell to do with it. You feel helpless. First its the spouse.  But they are another adult and they can make it with or without you.  Its merely better with them (or supposed to be).  But then bring in this thing that completely relies on you for everything. Now try and go exercise, try and meet your friends out, try and have some alone time with your spouse.  You completely trade you time for us time.  If you want to keep the old life you had then be prepared for child support coming out of your paycheck. I think most parents miss certain things from their old life but they wouldn’t trade the world for it.  I am a better person for going through it. All the things I’m trying to teach this young person to do I have to reflect and see if I’m even doing them myself. Half the time I’m not a good example.  When I see young people working hard and crushing it I often say “take on a wife and kids and see how you crush it”.   They will eventually and they’ll know what I mean.   So why am I talking about all this?

Because my daughter is almost grown up. I could see it at Christmas. Instead of us doing all our shopping for her, and getting her ready to travel. She actually helped cook, shop, and drove to the parents house.   There is a little parenting left but it’s almost done.  Now I just sit back and watch the decision making and make sure its correct. I already laid the information to make those decisions the past 16 years. I don’t have to drive her all over because she can drive herself.  She needs my money but even that will be over pretty soon. Compared to my friends with smaller kids I have an extra 10 to 15 hours a week. I’m essentially back to the time of being in the mid twenties but with 100 times the finances.  It’s an amazing time. Time for my second round of crushing it.   I vowed to keep my health so I could enjoy these times and I think it may work out.  I’m in much better shape than earlier in my life. So there’s my little reflection of the day. Its personal but its also reality for a lot of men my age so I thought I would share . Back to domain talk. Here are today’s domains. BGYR.com   More good letters.   Also investible quality IMO

FDDD.net   A great pattern for any extension.  Similar dot coms have crossed five figures so this has some room to run

02791.com   Any 5 number dot come have to go on the list. They’re becoming a rare breed.  Rare considering there are 100,000 of them and there are only a handful up each day

16056.com And the names that show up usually have zeros and fours at this point

And a few LLLL.nets for you PTLN.net, FFXS, HZTG, SKKG, FFXS

55PH.com   20 free visits with the purchase

333619.com   Triple repeating 6N.com.   They continue to rise and again we all probably need to own a few in our portfolios

.

JGU.com  Namejet had more LLL.coms up for auction than all the other auction houses combined.  Kudos

PF.net  Seen less than a dozen of these up for sale. I used to own a few of these in the past.  And like everything I used to own, I sold too soon

MSNW.com Worldwide domain and on Namejet.  Easy 3K.   18 years old

ZTQ.net  Woot Woot.  The streak continues.  LLL.net that starts with a Z.  All continue to do well

FPBC.com  C for Corporation.  I bid on all LLLL.coms that end in C (most, maybe not all)

HDGB.com  13 years old.  High Def Green Bay.  Because Green Bay is a hot domain market

JDJW.com  The repeating Js should keep the interest of the LLLL.com lovers

98441.com  Double 4s are fine when its 5N.com or less

67608.com  I like this one even more.  I’ll guess and say $2200.

  1. Shane,

Today’s post really hit home. With an almost 17 year old son, we are at the same stage and enjoying every second. It’s truly amazing to watch this little being morph into a responsible young adult.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    Maz

    1. Maz,

I learned a while ago all the things I went through weren’t just me. That there were tons of other people that thought and went through the same things. My running group is my therapy. We say “does your daughter …….?” Lots of laughs and good advice. Glad you got something out of it
