Monday is the Boston marathon and I’m not running this year. I decided to skip a year and have a great run when I turn 50 this year. But a friend of mine is running and he’s going to come visit after he’s done running. He’s not planning on running a PR but I’m sure he’ll do fine. Even his bad runs are pretty good. I say that because my friend won the Boston Marathon in 2012. His name is Wesley Korir and since he was in the states for the race he was nice enough to come stay with us and give a talk to the community and help us raise fund for our missions.
Wesley is a fantastic human being. He has taken the “teach them to fish” method and has been building businesses to employ 
local Kenyan residents to learn skills and empower people. He’s started a milk coop and a clothing factory. Individual milk sellers were getting poor prices and now they can band together and create their own products. They are making powdered milk and yogurt. I went to the factory and I have to say the yogurt was easily the best I’ve ever had. And the clothing factory is small but they were making local school uniforms that had been farmed out to China or India. It makes sense to have the uniforms for the local community made by the local community.
The money you gave me this winter went to these projects and its part of the reason he is coming to say thank you. So while this may not be a domaining story it exists because of the generosity of the domaining community. You didn’t give to an organization and hope that things are getting done. I am there watching it get done and it keeps coming full circle and continuing on. Thanks again all that helped make this possible. Enjoy your Sunday.
