There is no excitement in hitting a hole when you are playing by yourself. It’s something I used to say all the time when I was young. I would joke with my friends that the only reason I invited them to play a round with me is so I had someone to high five when I hit a hole in one. But the truth is things are so much better when shared with others.
You’ve heard me talk about this quite a bit but the deeper I get into this life the more I realize how important partnerships are. Wife, husband, life partner. Whomever you find that makes life more enjoyable and teams up with you to take on life’s obstacles. Life is simply better. There will be points in your life that you’re alone, that’s a part of life. Finding someone that you can spend hours a day with for your entire life is a task over half the people in the world will never find, but those that do will tell you that its a gift. Waking up knowing there is someone with you that has your back and is constantly carving you into someone better by making you responsible. Maybe you would have done itself but when other rely on you there tends to be more attention to being a better person. Especially when you add kids into the mix.
Business is no different. Same relationship without the intimacy. Having each others back. Communicating through the good and bad times. Waking up knowing that there are others that and helping and as excited about the journey as you are. Sharing success and having the ability to enjoy others success is a sign of a well rounded person. I will be the first that it took me years to enjoy others success as much as my own. Actually it took having a kid to understand.
I probably write all this to remind myself but maybe its just to remind all of you to not take for granted what you have. To make sure to thank in one way or another the people that allow you to be who you are. As a domain investor, your hobbies, your life. If you truly did it by yourself. I’m sorry you had to do that.
