I’ve been out of the domain loop, I haven’t paid attention to news for months. I miss it, I think staying in tune with the industry even at a base level, helps me stay on top of things. I had no idea that namescon was changing locations until I read Shane’s post from yesterday.
I agree with his assessment, I can’t imagine a place that’ll attract as many people as well as Vegas for numerous reasons. The first Namescon I ever attended I met about 20 domainers before the conference ever started because Shane invited me to play soccer. Last year I met some new people playing golf at Top Golf. I can’t imagine a venue that has as many tools for networking as the current location.
I’d go to more of these things every year if there were domainers to meet, friends to see, things to do and it was relatively cheap all things considered. It’s basically just a little vacation for me, if I’m being honest I don’t go to many sessions. Every year I tell myself I will, but it doesn’t happen.
So hopefully they find somewhere for the 2020 Namescon that meets all the requirements and keeps people coming. If not we can always go to Vegas that last week in January and basically do the same thing without worrying about a name badge.
