For our startup, Winterline, that I mentioned yesterday, one of the first things we did was open an account at Mercury. You’ve probably heard of them; they are a SaaS tool on top of banks. After going from my local bank to this, it’s like going from an old car to a Tesla. Life is so much easier. One of the main reasons I moved is for the ease of wiring money. Big sales rely on wires. We are closing a big deal out of the gate, and of course, it required a wire.
The time from me making the wire to it being accepted on the other side was 10 minutes. I used to have to go to the bank each time, and it would take me 30 minutes just having them type things in. Then I went to Chase, and it’s easier, but there were limits and I had to have a large balance in the account.
This 100% is the future. They also integrate with our other tools and accounting. Between HubSpot, beehiiv, and Mercury, running a business is so much easier. We have our website tied to everything from the site to our email. Every lead, email, note, and transaction is all logged in HubSpot for ease of management. One place for everything.
And one other note: I also had to send some crypto for another purchase, and the future is definitely not sending money with your wallet. That wire was a breeze. The crypto was much more difficult and scary. I had a bunch of Tether, but it was in Binance Tether, so I had to bridge it to ERC-20 Tether and then send a small transaction because I wasn’t sending large five figures and having something go wrong. I have done $10M in crypto transactions and I never feel completely comfortable. Wires from here on if possible.
