I was walking the beach in Miami and there is construction literally everywhere. Only place I saw more cranes than Miami is in China. One thing stuck out is these walls. Propped up and secured, and aren’t in any way aesthetic or historic. At first I thought maybe they are required to keep some part of all building because of some preservation laws. Sounds like something California would do. Talking to my friend Ralph he said that if they keep a wall they can keep the original tax rates. If it were a completely new build the rates would be reassessed and made higher. So everyone keeps a wall, building these incredible new buildings and beats the system. Although it seems it is the system, not beating it.
Another thing I saw that as a business owner drove me crazy. Was at a coffee shop that also served delicious overnight oat bowls. They sold a lot of coffee and a lot of bowls. They put the cream in at the counter but you add your own sugar. But they didn’t put out stir straws or similar. So every single person took an expensive disposable wooden spoon, stirred their coffee and threw it away. Its been like this all week so I imagine its always like this. I bet they throw away 3-400 spoons every day that could have been a penny stir straw. Probably $50 A DAY or more in waste. Needless and lazy. Someone is not managing their business very well
