I am headed to a tech conference for Winterline, and since we don’t use business cards anymore, I am always looking for a good way to easily share contact info. There are endless apps and cards designed to do this, but there is one feature out there that almost nobody realizes they already have. Of course, this only works if you have an iPhone; it’s called NameDrop, and if you set it up, you can simply tap another person’s phone to drop in your contact details.
It is incredibly easy to set up. Just tap the green phone icon on your device, and the first thing that pops up at the top is your own contact card. You merely go in and remove anything you don’t want to share and add whatever you do. I suggest setting it to “Always Ask” so that the next time you want to exchange info with another iPhone user, you just touch phones and accept.
At crypto and tech conferences, especially with international visitors, I often find myself using WhatsApp and Telegram and scanning various QR codes. I always wondered why everyone took so many selfies at these shows, but it’s actually to help put names and faces together later on. Newly.com gave me a great NFC contact card, but I can’t find it anywhere. It is one of those things you keep in your bag or wallet for four months, only for it to be nowhere to be found the moment you actually need it. 😂
