Shane’s List of Domains at Auction for Monday, July 28th, 2025

My wife was getting on me about all my shoes. I tried to tell her I wear all of them and she said impossible so then I started telling her about when I wear each of them. I have more but only because I am always testing out shoes to see if they are better than what I have. Not that anyone here asked but here are all my running and trail shoes.

Summer Hikes or Climbs Merril Moab 3s
Winter/Snow Climbs (Crampons Needed) La Spotiva Trango Pro GTX
Trail Running Hoka SpeedGoat
Daily Runner for Slow Nike Infinity React and Mizuno Wave Rider
Daily Runner Faster Workouts Nike Vaporfly
Long Runs with Pace Saucony Endorphin Pro Elite
Race Day Puma Fast-r Nitro Elite 3s and Nike AlphaFly 3s

Most people will think their shoe needs to be perfect for their gate. They go to the store and get fitted for the perfect shoes. Most of that is total fallacy. They will blame their shoes but the reality is it really only comes down to FITTING CORRECTLY. Every shoe has a different fit. Different toe box and shape. Once you know the size it really comes down to what you will be doing in the shoe. Every shoe has a different purpose. The reality is most people run too much, too early. It literally takes years to prepare for a marathon. For a person that has been hobby jogging to try and run a marathon in one training season will get injured. Its not if but how bad. A race shoe shouldn’t be worn all week. A casual run shoe will beat your legs up on a long run vs a long run shoe which will save your legs for a good workout later in the week. Legs fresh for a good workout compounds the gains. Heavy shoe on a long run will leave your Tuesday/Wednesday poor. In short, make sure your shoe fits well and that is good enough to start. As you progress you can mix in different shoes for different purposes. A recommendation for a shoe is usually a personal choice until you start getting into heavy mileage and speed work. Then they recs become true for most people that have the same foot shape.

All that being said, the key is SLOWLY ramping up speed and distance in a comfortable shoe. I see people moving up way too fast or not moving up at all. Doing the same thing every single day and week. You should be moving up 5% a week in distance at most. Adding little burst of speed each week. Starting with maybe 15 seconds of effort. Adding time over the months. Races should be 5K then 10K the half and after a couple of years maybe a marathon. If your are doing any running at any speed I applaud you. Keep at it. Keep moving. You are going to win regardless of what shoe you end up with

Quote of the Day: “Shoes don’t run the race for you. They just help make the pain a little more tolerable.”— Des Linden, Boston Marathon winner
