Shane’s List of Domains at Auction for Monday, July 7th, 2025

Want to know the difference between a Mom and a Dad? I have a perfect example. I sent my mom a picture of my wife and me from a hike, and she responded with, “That is such a great photo. Where are you at?” A nice comment, curious about where we went and what we did that day. I sent the same picture to my dad, and I got a 👍. That’s it. No comment, no question. It’s not like I said, “Did you get it?”—which we all know is the only appropriate use of a thumbs up.

It’s not just my dad. My father-in-law is exactly the same. I don’t think he’s ever responded with more than three characters. I’m not sure why they never have anything to say. I’ve always thought the thumbs up is the laziest possible response. It means, “Got it, but I don’t care enough to reply.” The thumbs up says a lot about a person, and usually it just says they’re old or act old. I say that because 99% of the time I get it from older people or from someone who really doesn’t care.

I know these men love me and my wife. That’s never in question. I just think that generation was raised differently and doesn’t know how to show emotion unless the moment really calls for it. They don’t hand out hugs or appreciation the way younger generations do.

The problem is, the men most likely to send the thumbs up are also the ones least likely to get a text or photo the next time around. You feel like you’ve wasted their time. So you stop sending them. Then they wonder why they don’t know what’s going on with the family.

Let’s be honest—you send a photo because you think someone might like it, and it’s nice to hear that they do. You want a response that says, “I’d love to see more.” Especially when it’s their kids.

I might get like that someday too. But at this age, I still love when my daughter sends me photos—where she’s at, who she’s with. I always make sure to comment so she keeps them coming. She doesn’t live at home, so that’s pretty much how I get to see what she’s up to.

I’m sure thumbs up people aren’t as bad as I make them out to be. They probably don’t even realize how negative it can feel. They don’t know they’ve been labeled. But I do know it makes me more aware of how I respond to texts, because I know exactly how that kind of reply makes me feel.

If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
