People like Travis are great at maximizing credit card points. The irony is that most of the people who’ve helped me over the years with picking the best cards and strategies already have enough money that they don’t need to. What it really shows is they maximize everything financially. Credit cards are just one part of the overall game of managing money.
It’s not about saving money, it’s about getting the most out of what you spend. Some people say it’s not worth their time to transfer points or use a specific card for a certain purchase, but that’s just not true. If you know what you’re doing, it takes minutes a month to optimize your credit card spending, and it can mean thousands of extra dollars in value.
Simple things make a difference. Alaska Airlines runs promotions where you can buy points for 50% off and then use those for cheaper flights. Or you can transfer points for 10X value elsewhere. I’ve heard people say, “I never stay at that hotel chain,” but the reality is, you could, and probably should , when the math makes sense. Most people don’t stay loyal to the same corporate hotels unless they’re getting extra points or savings.
I use Hotels.com often because their rebates add up quickly, and in some cases, they beat my card rewards. It’s not a lifestyle change , it’s just choosing this instead of that when making a purchase.
I don’t think of myself as someone who travels a lot, but when I look back, I spend over $15,000 a year on travel…. closer to $25,000 if you include Airbnb. There are also tons of free perks hidden in the fine print of credit card programs: free meal delivery, Uber discounts, streaming services, and more.
It makes sense to pay attention. Actually, it makes dollars.
Quote of the Day: “You don’t build wealth with credit card rewards and airline miles. You can’t beat the credit-card companies at their own game.” — Dave Ramsey

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
