We all go through dry periods in domain sales. That makes money management critical. Every day there are investable names on the list. But what if you don’t have the cash? You could use a credit card, but that’s a bad practice unless you have guaranteed LTO money coming in.
I try to keep some dry powder from sales and an even bigger bag of good decision making. That means passing on spectacular deals when I’m low on cash. It’s hard. Buying domains is an addiction. Selling them is mostly out of your control, so there’s no guarantee when they will sell. There’s no such thing as “due.”
You can go days or months without a sale. I set a revenue number at the start of the year as a minimum I hope to bring in. How often is it accurate? Never. I usually hit it because I lowball the number, but the way sales come in is all over the place. Some years it’s one major sale, others it’s a handful of small ones. One year I’ll have a few sales every month. Another year nothing for two months and then a flood.
Domaining is anything but consistent. The only constant is your ability to manage cash so you can keep playing in the best sandbox around.
Quote of the Day: Seneca – “It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.”
Domain of the Day: FelizNavidad.com Even non Spanish people know what this is because of the song

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
