I’ll start by saying not financial advice. Don’t buy anything based on what I say. Software stocks are getting hammered. Everyone thinking that they all will be useless with AI. Then there is Paypal which they just think is useless. They say that and yet everyone Venmos each other every day. That is paypal. I use it every week to pay people. I went to a race and the payment for the race and any hats you wanted was scan the Qr and put in the amount. Venmo can be leveraged way more than it is for peer to peer payments. Especially if people could choose debit or credit and Venmo become a credit card to compete with Mastercard and Visa. I’ve said this for years and yet the stock goes down down and down. So keep buying more. I’ll either be very right or very wrong. So far I’m wrong except for the last big add which is up quite a bit.
Take another company Zoom. Getting crushed by Google Meet. But Zoom put $51M into Anthropic that if undilluted would be 11B based on the latest round. I’m sure it was heavily diluted but still not insignificant. They have 9B in cash and a $26 B valuation. Unless they are losing money, which they are not. Only a 14 PE. Priced like its in a freefall
Last one. Hubspot. Getting pummeled because everyone says AI will make it irrelevant. Guess what 99% of the people are not using their own LLM and creating their own tools. Add in Dharmesh and the team are some of the most AI forward people in the world and have added AI into hubspots and integrations to all the AI tools. It’s litereally getting better every day. I use it every day and I know. Could I replicate it. Maybe. But for $50 a month and never having to deal with things breaking down or going crazy its a steal. Add on they are going to generate extra revenue from Ai add ons and all the token sales to do new tasks. They may hit some down periods of growth while people think they can do better but IMO people will come back when they realize it’s a solid tool
I can go on and on about this. I’m staying long on my AI infrastructure stocks but taking a little profit and picking and choosing the best companies who went down with giant dropping tide on all software stocks. Not all are equal. Some 100% are going to get crushed. But theses and stocks like Adobe have much more under the hood than they are getting credit for
