If you want a taste of how bots are taking over, this week was a perfect example. Here at DSAD, we had bots hit the site hard. I have no idea what they were after, but in one day we had 10,000 times the normal traffic and instances, enough that we had to turn on DDoS protection through Cloudflare and shut it down. On X, my guess is 80% of the posts and replies are bots or accounts paid to reply. I’m watching a new domain company pay to have bots fill the replies and likes, which wipes out any credibility they’re trying to build.
The AI bot responses are overwhelming, and now Grok is being called so often I’ve had to block it just to keep my feed somewhat clean. X lost its stock talk last year because bots spammed the $STOCK symbols by the millions each day. You can’t find real people talking stocks anymore. Elon has some big issues, in my opinion. The spam is ruining the experience, and I see the platform moving more and more toward private groups—which is a shame, because part of the value of X is seeing things outside your echo chamber and chosen follows. The “For You” feed is the only decent part left, and it’s slowly deteriorating. That all being said, it’s still good, but I’m not sure how long it will last.
