Domain Spotlight:

Shane’s List of Domains at Auction for Wednesday, March 18th, 2026

I’ve been friends with Mike Sullivan for over a decade. He’s a Chicago suburbs guy like I used to be and we shared the same side hustle of domains. Both of us had family and a day jobs and were trying to build a portfolio that would let us have a few extra things.

Talking to him the other day, he mentioned he had started a site called NotRenewing. Essentially, it’s a marketplace where you can list names before you let them expire. Most registrars don’t share any of the expiry auction, so you might as well try and sell them before they expire and get something for the names, even if it’s a few dollars. Mike set up a great option for that. I haven’t tried it because I don’t really have any expiring names, but certainly worth a try, and kudos to him for trying to create something. (no we didn’t get paid to post this, purely sharing because I like Mike)

I’ve said it before, I think people are going to follow Atom.com’s strategy of splitting expiry auction proceeds. It’s incredibly smart as domain owners are more likely to move their domain to the Atom registrar. When I say domain owners, I mean the domain owners who play the numbers game of thousands or tens of thousands of domains of lesser value. The premium stuff obviously is not going to expire. Or shouldn’t.

Quote of the Day: “The last century belonged to those who mastered energy. The next will belong to those who master intelligence. And intelligence is infinite, but wisdom must guide it. So wherever you are, in a lab, an office or a small classroom, remember this. Every time you choose to learn instead of complain, to create instead of copy, to share instead of hoard, you are adding one more line of code to humanity’s greatest program, the code of progress.” -Jack Ma

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.

  1. Appreciate the mention, Shane. That is exactly the idea behind NotRenewing. If a domain owner already knows a name is not worth renewing, it makes more sense to at least give it a chance to sell before letting it drop. Even a small recovery is better than getting nothing back, especially at scale. I also think you are right that more registrars will eventually move toward sharing in expiry value, as they should, because once domain owners realize how much gets lost in that process, it becomes a pretty obvious friction point.
