The Cost Of 30 Second TV Commercial On Primetime TV Fall 2012: And You Only Want to Pay What for the Domain

Here is reason number 64 why your domain could be more valuable than you think. Below is the cost of a 30 SECOND commercial on American Prime Time Television. Yes 30 Seconds. Half a million dollars for 30 seconds. $30,000 for 30 seconds on a terrible show. $10,000 for your premium domain seems like a steal doesn’t it? And this doesn’t even count production cost.  A domain should last a lifetime and has the potential to reach billions around the world. A commercial may be remembered but a premium domain WILL be remembered. A domain is a marketing tool and as these prices show.  Good marketing cost good money

7 Replies to “The Cost Of 30 Second TV Commercial On Primetime TV Fall 2012: And You Only Want to Pay What for the Domain”

  1. “$30,000 for 30 seconds on a terrible show”

That’s the takeaway from this piece, and a great marketing point to make.

  2. Cost is only part of the comparison. One also should know the reach (number of individuals who view the ad), how targeted those potential buyers are, and how well the ad spend converts into sales. If Burger King advertises during a break of a football game, does that really motivate viewers to go out and get a burger and fries? On the other hand, website content can be uniquely targeted to specific interest groups and hypothetically ads should convert at higher rates.
