Domain Spotlight:

The Sunday Help Wanted Section: See Who’s Hiring

Every Sunday I thought I would post a few of the jobs available in the domain industry. This week I started with the “big boys” and I hope in future weeks to be able to build a “Help Wanted” of companies or domainers who need people to do certain tasks. The domain industry is really no different from most Internet companies when it comes to employee needs.  Engineers, SEO, Account managers, all are needed.  For you? Maybe the domain flipping isn’t working out as well as you thought. Maybe you’re like Chef Patrick and you want to learn the industry a little more by working for someone else.  If anyone is looking for employees or someone to do some work, feel free to email me and I’ll get your positions posted. And I’ll do it for free, every Sunday. Can’t beat that price.

  1. Thanks for the info – had two interviews with recruiters / agencies this week as I’m back in the market. The feedback I received from them was that the job market has picked up considerably from last year but still is below levels of several years ago. Both seemed to view my domaining foray as a slight negative so I need to address that concern in interviews. For now I would like to stay in South Florida. The last two years have been a great learning experience but it is time to go back to the real world 🙂

    1. Leonard,

Curious as to why they consider domaining a negative other than the fact you didn’t have a “real” job during that period.

  2. Shane – Their comment was that I haven’t been doing traditional finance / accounting in two years now and that many companies would prefer someone with “more recent experience.” It is true I have had to brush up on Excel 2007 at the library because my home computer still has Excel 2003. However, after years of experience with monthly closings, budgets, cost & return-on-investment analysis, as well as Latin American operations, I don’t believe the accounting / finance function has changed radically over that timeframe. Rather, I believe the hiatus has given me a broader business perspective, an appreciation for sales and marketing and a basic grasp of website development and SEO. OK most accounting / finance professionals aren’t tasked to do such things in a corporate environment but I actually came across one local ecommerce company where I believe my recent experience would be viewed upon more favorably. We’ll see…
