I’m curious if anyone else has run into this scenario at GoDaddy before. At the beginning of October, I bought a domain from GoDaddy that had rolled through expiring auctions and into closeouts. About a week after paying for the domain, I checked the auctions site, and it said that my domain was scheduled to be delivered on November 7th which is over a month after the purchase. That was oddity number 1, because names are usually delivered within a week. I checked the WHOIS for the domain, and it wasn’t set to expire until March of 2023. That is oddity number 2. How did the domain roll through the expired auctions if it hadn’t expired yet? I reached out to my Premier Services rep, and he was able to get the name pushed into my account, and when it did, it renewed for another year to March of 2024. He also agreed that the expiring issue was strange. Have any of you guys had this happen? Thoughts on how it might happen?

This happened to us with a closeout domain a few weeks ago. It showed an unusually long expected date to be available, about a month. However, the domain ended up in our account about 2 weeks later much sooner than the date shown. Now it seems they’ve gotten rid of the old Won auctions page. I’m sure it’s just a bunch of internal changes they are making to the system, but interesting nonetheless.
Thanks for commenting. Was the expiration date in the future for this domain? To me, that is the strangest part. FYI – the won auctions page still exists. After you log into auctions, mouse over Bidding List at the top, and Won is in the dropdown.
Just checked and the expiration date was 5 days prior to the auction end date.

Thanks for checking. 5 days prior is also weird. Expiration is almost always something like 35 days prior. Right, I don’t see the old version anywhere either.
